A simple pricing tool for eating out locally
Eatchip started when a friend asked, 'How much is a fish supper at three different chip shops before I get in the car?' We checked two chains and ignored one meal on a busy Friday when the menu image we had was six months out of date. So we built a faster, more honest version of that search - one that shows set meals, specials, and variable portions the way a local shop prices them.
We now work with data from over a thousand member outlets across the UK. When you search for a chicken kebab, a bag of chips or a pukka pie, we show you both the listed price and a note that this was last checked on a given month if any variance is possible. You plan, you budget, and you know roughly what to ask for at the counter.
The tool is free to the visitor. Shops and takeaway owners can update their own menu boxes by request, or tell us a delivery site regularly changes prices so we refresh quickly. Our guidance stays the same: know the going rate, check what lunchtime tightness does to a price, and remember that whether a halloumi wrap or a sausage supper costs £1 more turns on oil prices nearly as often as it turns on the shop.
